How it all started
Ten years ago, I lost my job. That’s when I decided to stop working for others and open my own business. A place where I could do and undo without pressure from others and where I could do it my way. After thinking about it, I decided to open what is now LaCrep. It was on a visit to the city of Girona that I decided to open an ice cream shop.
After making the decision, I had to draw up a business plan, find a location, do more than four numbers and a thousand other things. After having lived for almost a year in Badalona, less than 50m from the Can Soler ice cream shop, I knew who my suppliers would be. I found that I already had the product, a feasibility plan and a supplier. But where to open this ice cream shop???
Barcelona? Gracia district??? El Born??? In Masnou??? In the Empordà??? I wasn’t sure where it would be located. But suddenly, et voila!!! Why not open it in Santa Coloma??? I was born in Santa Coloma! And I’m quite proud of it; so why open it anywhere else? Plus, in Santa Coloma I saw that there was a lack of an establishment like the one I had in mind.
That’s how I decided to look for a place in Santa Coloma. I just had to go round and round, ask around, investigate. I only knew that I wanted it to be in the centre, but where??? In the end it was close to home!!! One day, talking to some acquaintances, they told me that the place where the ice cream shop on C/ San Carlos had been, was empty!!! Here I told myself that it was mine. The owners were the same ones who had rented Mas Fonollar to my grandparents when they were alive and they already knew the whole family. So everything went smoothly and somehow the circle was closed, as if destiny wanted to say something. Do you believe in signs????
Renovations, visits to banks, meetings, Excel spreadsheets and countless hours of work resulted in the establishment of which I am the proud owner and which I hope you all enjoy.
